We're thrilled to unveil the official 2025 Australian Invitational Oztag uniform!
Designed by Patrick Strong - Here is his story behind the design:
My interpretation of AIO playing together in August at the AIC 2024, for which is the inspiration for my idea of the painting.
Under the vast sky, the Black Cockatoo soared, its wings glistening like the night, leading the way for the mobs to come together. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples gathered in strength, united by the red, black, and yellow for the lands, and the deep blue and green for the seas.
The fire, lit by the black Cockatoo's guidance, burned brightly, symbolising solidarity and love for each other and their ancestors. Hand in hand, we stood as one, a force of unity, our voices rising in song, calling for a future built on strength and respect.
Together, we know our bond cannot be broken, our path forward lit by the embers of history and the bright flames of tomorrow.
I am a proud and strong Aboriginal man from Armidale, I have strong family connections to Anaiwan, Gumbaynggirr, Gamilaroi, and Thunghutti peoples.
Born and raised in Armidale, for 24 years before moving to Tamworth in 2010 when my partner, now wife, was pregnant with our first son.
Now I'm a father of three active boys who share my love for Oztag!
I have been fortunate to be apart of the Australian Indigenous Oztag team since 2018, making my debut in New Zealand.
I've always had a passion for artwork, exploring drawing in my younger years. Recently, I've started painting after receiving requests for personal pieces, reigniting my creative side. This uniform design is my inspiration for my journey with Australian Indigenous Oztag.
