Australian Indigenous Oztag is proud to announce Yinwum and Anathangayth man Maurice Woodley as the 2024 gear design artist!!
Born in Cairns, now living in Ipswich Maurice first started playing with AIO at the 2015 World Cup on the Sunshine Coast in the over 35 men’s side! He will be representing AIO is his design at the 2024 Australian Invitation Challenge in the men’s 45s side.
Maurice first got into playing oztag when his oldest son Tyrell convinced him to fill in for his local team! Tyrell also competed in 2015 and will representing AIO in the men’s opens sides this year!!
When creating his designed Maurice was inspired by connection and wanted to utilised colours to represent this. His design shows connection to lands; the top and bottoms red and yellow; the middle; blue and green to represent the waters, and the winds represent by our black cockatoo.
Maurice’s designs tells the story of all our different mobs connections to their traditional lands and waters! The Dhari and sitting people symbols represents our beautiful strong and unique brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts that make up the AIO family!
We are so excited to have Maurice as our 2024 artist and player, and cannot wait to watch all our mob to represent their culture and people and such deadly gear!
Gear post will be coming this week!!
