⭐️First up we have Corina!! ⭐️Corina is a proud Birpai woman who will be playing in our women’s 37s side!!
Corina is no stranger is playing with AIO and has been playing with us since 2016 🤯 Corina first played in our 2016 Oceania Cup Opens women’s side, then 2017 Senior mixed and women's opens Big 4 sides, 2018 World Cup senior mixed, 2022 ITS women’s 30s, 2022 BOTN women’s 30s and was also selected for our women’s 30s 2024 World Cup side! Talk about an impressive representative resume! 😍 and to top is off Corina had played in numerous state and national tournaments with Port Macquarie!!We were lucky enough to talk to her deadly daughter Pearl and ask her for some words about her deadly mum!
“My mother Corina Latimore local Birpi woman and Indigenous artist has been playing oztag since she was 26 and has played alongside her mob many times. My mum has played at state and international level a hand full of times and it’s so exciting to watch her go out there and give it a crack, she inspires me to do the same in everything I do. I’ve learnt so much from her from the way she puts her heart into everything she does, it’s makes me proud to be her daughter.”
Corina applied to play with AIO because in her words “playing with mob is more fun!!😉” - I mean she’s definitely not wrong!! 🙌🏽She is proud to represent her culture and people, and play alongside other talented players who share pride, and passion for oztag!!! 🏉Corina is most excited to play with the mob and AIO after missing on World Cup due to being pregnant with a future AIO player (we start recruiting early) 😝 she’s also excited to catch up with teammates who she probably wouldn’t have met if she had not played with AIO for over 9 years!!!
These women are such strong, powerful, and deadly women and leaders in AIO and in their community!! Their commitment to culture, teammates and AIO doesn’t go unnoticed, and we are so honoured to be able to showcase their leadership and talent! 🙌🏽They will be learning AIO in the opening ceremony with our Captain Uncle Greg Holt.
